Arts & Culture
Argyll is home to many amazing artists and craftspeople, and you can see some of their work at The Tighnabruaich Gallery in the middle of the village and The Hayshed Gallery at Carry Farm. The annual Cowal Open Studios event provides a showcase for local artists.
The nearest cinema is in Dunoon, and if you get the chance, you should visit the Screen Machine when it is in the village – a cinema in the back of an articulated lorry – a great initiative by Screen Scotland.
Scottish Sculpture Park at Caol Ruadh (pronounced ‘col ru’) is a unique outdoor gallery promoting and selling contemporary sculpture created in Scotland and is located at Colintraive. Nearby at Glendaruel you can admire the Kilmodan Sculpture Stones, a collection of late-medieval sculptured stones, set in a churchyard burial aisle.
